SWARF Management

Archer ROMAR SS1000 Swarf Handling System is used for the removal of ferrous based (steel) swarf and debris from milling/drilling fluids during down-hole milling operations. The system is suitable for use in zone 1 areas and encompasses a two stage magnetic separation process and can be further enhanced to a three phase separation system with the addition of the Scalper unit.

Applied on milling jobs to efficiently and safely remove large quantities of metallic debris using a hands-free process:

  • Allows optimized milling rates by removing the bottleneck created by the manual surface handling of debris. Thus saving valuable rig days and reducing operator expense
  • Eliminates NPT via the blockage of rig circulating systems with swarf debris
  • Greatly enhances safety by eliminating the manual handling of sharp metal debris by rig crew

We have developed a family of units which are designed to optimize performance while minimizing footprint and crew levels:

  • Standard SS1000 Swarf Handling Unit is capable of flow rates of up to 1,200gpm
  • High capacity SS1000+ Swarf Handling Unit is capable of flow rates of up to 1,500gpm
  • Unique SS1000 Modular Swarf Handling Unit can be placed in a section of open flowline, thus reducing equipment footprint and freeing up valuable deck space
  • Optional Flowhead/Tailpipe assembly ensures that milling debris stays in suspension until it reaches the unit, and avoids debris plugging in rig lines
